Los Angeles County Supervisorial candidate Mark Ridley Thomas
highlights an impressive group of elected officials and political
hopefuls who will join Local 6434 members for the annual Pancake
Breakfast served by union staff at ULTCW headquarters on
Saturday. The traditional event serves as the unofficial start of
the local campaign season, as thousands of union members will soon be
knocking on doors in support of various political causes and campaigns.
Expected guests--all of them endorsed by the SEIU-ULTCW rank and file
membership--include Ridley-Thomas, State Assemblymen Mike Eng and
Warren Furutani (both running for re-election), State Senate candidates
Lloyd Levine (a current Assemblyman), Mervyn Dymally (a current
Assemblyman) and Carol Liu, plus State Assembly candidates John Perez,
Bob Blumenfield and Isadore Hall III (currently on the Compton City
Council).
SEIU-ULTCW is comprised of over 190,000 homecare workers and nursing
home workers united throughout the state. They are committed to
working together to improve the lives of seniors, people with
disabilities and long-term care workers who provide quality care.
