Dear Brothers and Sisters,
On November 8th in Oxnard, California, the first joint Tri-County and LA County Latino Caucus came together to celebrate the unity and diversity that give strength to the workers of locals 721 and 6434.
The celebration was sponsored by a diverse group of labor caucuses: the Latino, Asian/Pacific Islander, Lavender, Social and Economic Justice and African American.
Rosie Martinez, LA Latino Caucus Chair, emphasized the purpose of the membership mixer: to unite Public Service Workers around common issues and to provide a forum where labor members can work together to support and highlight community-wide issues such as universal health care and immigration.
Representatives of each caucus along with the acting SEIU 721 President and Treasurer said a few words at the microphone.
Dr. Debbie Devries and Armando Vasquez spoke about their community high-risk youth outreach project in Ventura County and invited us to join them in this effort.
The next Latino Caucus meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19th at 6:00PM. For more information, please call Rosie Martinez at (213) 494-8314.
In Solidarity,
Your Brother
Dan Ramirez
