The SEIU-ULTCW Seniors Association, founded in 2008, is a statewide advocacy group.  Our board is comprised of senior leaders and advocates among our membership body and our statewide community partners.  The Association is sponsored through SEIU-ULTCW and through our affiliated community partners.  

MISSION and PURPOSE:

The SEIU-ULTCW Seniors Association focuses its primary attention on legislative/community and consumer issues that impact older adults and people with disabilities.  

Delegates within the Senior Association are appointed to represent SEIU-ULTCW’s voice, maintain relationships, and build a bridge with affiliate grassroots organizations that share the same advocacy interests.  

SEIU-ULTCW Seniors Association hosts a variety of activities that caters to older adults to educate, empower and improve the comfort of their lives.  


Mental Health Professionals Host Performing Arts Event

Local leaders honored

On Sunday, June 29th, 2008, the Coalition for Mental Health Professionals, with direction from their executive director, Dr. Sandra Cox hosted the “Extraordinary Sunday Afternoon of Visual & Performing Arts Event” hosted by master of ceremonies Halford H. Fairchild, Ph.D.

The Coalition for Mental Health Professionals seeks to serve and empower Los Angeles County through the development of mental health programs by providing counseling services to enhance the well-being of the community and improve quality of life. The Coalition of Mental Health Professionals, Inc. provides services to a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual community, using professionals who represent the communities they serve. The Coalition of Mental Health Professionals, Inc. offers individual, group and anger management classes and critical incident stress debriefing. They also offer A.I.D.S. information, awareness, prevention and counseling as referral services are available from nationally certified AIDS counselors.

After warm greetings, Dr. Fairchild introduced the Nana Akua Afriyiye and Nana Yeboah Kordie, the King and Queen of the Ntahera, a tribe of the Ashanti Ethnicity in Ghana. They demonstrated a number of cultural rituals that are sacred to the Ashanti people.

Faith D. Cullbreath, President of Service Employees International Union SOULA, Local 2006, was honored for her unyielding dedication to uplifting and empowering members in the Los Angeles area that protect the well-being of others. Cullbreath is president of a newly-charted SEIU Local made up of 4,000 Security Officers within the Los Angles metro area. She also serves on the Executive Board of the SEIU CA Property Services Council representing 40,000 members throughout the state.
