The
United Long-Term Care Workers' Union represents more than 5,000 nursing
home workers who provide quality care to seniors and those with
disabilities in 24-hour care facilities across Southern California.
Through
collective bargaining, organized nursing home workers have won
significant increases in wages and benefits, while improving working
conditions and ensuring that residents get the quality care they need
and deserve.

The Union is important because we have a contract. I know when I am going to my increases and how much I am going to receive. I feel more secure in my work because I have rights.
Working together to improve care
Forming strong a coalition of residents, senior groups and community leaders, California nursing home workers have improved staffing, recruitment, and worker retention to ensure quality care
for seniors.
Together
we passed landmark legislation, The Nursing Home Quality Care Act (AB
1629) in 2004 that provides more than $900 million in new funding for
California nursing homes.
Nursing home caregivers across the state are ready to
make sure that money is used to advance quality care.
Nowhere is the need for improvements to care and working conditions
greater than in Los Angeles County. That's why nursing home workers
from across Los Angeles are joining together to win a voice at work.
By uniting, they will be able to hold their employers accountable and ensure quality nursing home care.
