Antonovich to Governor: STOP THE CUTS

LA County Sup. Antonovich sent Schwarzenegger personal letter against budget cuts

June 30, 2008
LA County Supervisor Michael Antonovich sent Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger a personal letter on June 26, 2008, asking him to protect the thousands of seniors and people with disabilities who rely on the In-Home Supportive Services and halt his proposed cuts.

"Cutting IHSS would result in costlier nursing home or long-term health care paid for by the State. Such an action would be 'pennywise and pound foolish,'" Antonovich wrote. "Moreover, reducing the State's commitment to homecare would only create a cost shift to counties who are already reeling from other proposed health and welfare cuts."
