Lifting Families Out of Poverty

As 190,000 homecare workers and nursing home workers united throughout the state, we are committed to working together to improve the lives of seniors, people with disabilities and long-term care workers who provide quality care.

Building unity through union organizing has been an effective tool in improving long-term care in various ways:

-  Educating the public about the important role caregivers play in society.
-  Increasing workers' wages and benefits that have resulted in lower caregiver turnover rates.
-  Advocating for quality care for seniors and people with disabilities
-  Gaining the political strength to help pass needed long-term care legislative reforms.
-  Building coalitions to advocate for quality long-term care.

Our Vision:

Ensure a quality, stable long-term care system for seniors and
     people with disabilities

Lift long-term care workers out of poverty by providing a pay scale and benefits
     equivalent to hospital care professionals.

Educate the public about the important role caregivers play in society.

Help long-term care workers and their families achieve economic justice through
livable wages, healthcare, affordable housing, and education.

Ensure family health care, sick leave, vacation, and pension benefits for all
     members.
